EV chargepoint grant for renters and flat owners: UK checklist

Eligible renters and people who own and live in a flat can receive support toward an EV chargepoint installation, but parking rights, permissions and an approved vehicle and installer all matter.

Maximum support75% of cost, capped at £500
ParkingPrivate, off-street and clearly defined
PropertyExisting UK residential property
Application routeStart with an OZEV-authorised installer

Check the property test first

A flat owner or residential tenant may qualify when the home has a private off-street parking space. A homeowner living in a conventional house is not covered by this specific route. The parking space does not have to adjoin the property, but you need the legal right to use it.

Collect permissions before work begins

Renters and leaseholders may need written approval from a landlord, freeholder or property manager. Listed buildings and shared land can introduce additional permissions. Do not let installation start before the application is approved.

Use the approved lists

The vehicle, chargepoint model and installer must meet scheme rules. Ask for an itemised quotation and retain the tenancy, utility and permission documents required by the application.
